A number of Christmas markets took place on November 26, hosted by the Balzac United Church and the Airdrie Koinonia Christian School.

We asked vendors at both markets if the downturn in the economy was impacting people's Christmas shopping.

Most vendor said business was slower than usual this year.

"I think it's a bit difficult," said vendor Hannah Fox, "Normally people would see something and say, oh lets add this to my bill, but this year it's more like, I know what I need and that's what I'm coming for."

Erin Hardy of Seven Saints agreed, adding, "It depends on the market too. We're finding some markets people come and they're definitely there to spend money, but others, definitely we've found that there is a little bit of a slow down."
