Applications are now open for the Eco Youth Awards in Airdrie.

The Eco Youth Awards recognize local youth for their efforts on environmental stewardship projects. Youths can use a current project or propose a new project to enter the competition.

The project may cover any environmental topic including climate change, water, air, or waste and recycling.

In order to apply for the award, proposals need to be submitted by email to education@airdrie.ca or by mail to 21 East Lake Hill, Airdrie, AB, T4K 2A3. The proposals must include a detailed explanation of the project, a timeline for carrying out the project, an explanation of how the project will benefit the youth's school or community, an explanation of the student's role and learning outcomes, and a summary of the budget for the project. You can learn more here.

Classes at Ralph McCall, Ecole Edwards Elementary, A.E. Bowers and Heloise Lorimer all received the 2016 Eco Youth Award.
