Community Links is in their 10th year of supporting kids with back to school supplies with their 'Supplies 4 Success' program.

Although the campaign has been underway for a while, donations are significantly down with only $7000 raised towards Community Links goal of $20,000.

"We usually fill over 300 backpacks each year," said Meagan Butt, Community Support Worker for Community Links. "We fill grades 1 to 4, 5 to 8, and 9 to 12, and unfortunately this year we are low on donations."

Due to an increased need, Butt is hopeful that more donations will be made at Staples while families do their own back to school shopping.

Staples has partnered with Community Links to supply backpacks and supplies, and recently Stephen's Backpacks has also made a donation of backpacks to the cause.

Butt's said backpacks will begin to be handed out on Monday, August 22, at 1 pm.

"In order to receive a backpack they would just need to come into the office, so that is the North Community Links office on First Avenue. Bring in their proof of residency and an ID for the kids, so it could be a health card or birth certificate, and they fill in the application form and then we're able to give them a backpack."
