Today is a great day to wear your sweater but not just because of the weather.

February 2nd is National Sweater Day, an initiative put on the World Wildlife Federation to help reduce energy use and choose renewable sources.

The City of Airdrie has contributed to the need for renewable energy with some crosswalks powered by solar panels, and turbines and panels layed across Chinook Winds Park.

You're encouraged to join others in Canada for this day by simply wearing a sweater and avoid cranking up the heat.
