While Airdrie waited anxiously for election results to come in last night (October 16), other nearby communities were also paying attention to the polls.

In Carstairs, the next four years will look much the same as the last four years. Incumbent Lance Colby won reelection for mayor with 559 votes, 327 more than challenger Cameron Tolley. Carstairs' Council also remains largely unchanged, with incumbents Dean Allan, Rick Blair, Marty Ratz and Al Gill winning reelection. The four incumbents will be joined on Council by Bob Green and Shannon Wilcox.

Didsbury saw an upheaval with its election, as not a single incumbent won reelection. Rhonda Hunter beat both incumbent Rick Mousseau and former Councillor Joyce McCoy along with Keegon McPherson, and Norm L. Quantz in the mayoral race. Hunter won the election with a slim 72 vote margin over McCoy, who finished second. Didsbury's Council will be comprised of John Baswick, Mel Crothers, Curtis J. Engels, Dorothy Moore, Erhard Poggemiller and Bill Windsor. Incumbents LaVar Adams, Garth Hollinger, Kim Moore, Gail Nowlan and Sheila Schulz were not able to retain their seats.

In Crossfield, former Councillor Jo Tennant is mayor-elect after a decisive victory. Current mayor Nathan Anderson did not seek reelection, and Tennant garnered 518 votes, 244 more than runner up Justin Gustafson. Devon Helfrich was the only incumbent to win back his Council seat, and will be joined by Elizabeth Grace, Glenn Price and Beth Gabriel.
