A Didsbury man who had been wanted in connection to a January theft in Hanna has been arrested.

RCMP say a vehicle was parked at the Canalta Hotel in Hanna and was broken into sometime overnight on January 20.

Various items were stolen out of the vehicle and the next day, a stolen credit card was used to purchase fuel at a nearby Husky gas station.

Hanna RCMP released surveillance photos of two suspects and after further investigation were able to identify two men.

Johnathan Davis Martin, 19, was arrested in Olds on January 24.

Mounties were on the hunt for the second man, David Alfred Matschke, 37, of Didsbury for three months and RCMP say he was arrested earlier this week.

Both men face the following charges in relation to the Hanna theft:

  • 3x unlawfully use credit card obtained by the commission of an offence
  • 5x possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • 3x theft under $5,000
  • 2x possession of property exceeding $5,000
  • Mischief
