A 37-year-old man from Didsbury is wanted in connection to a theft that took place in Hanna.

Mounties say a vehicle was parked at the Canalta Hotel in Hanna and was broken into sometime overnight on January 20.

A fuel pump pressure testing kit, Hilti impact gun, dash camera, a credit card, and various hand tools were stolen out of the vehicle. The next day, the stolen credit card was used to purchase fuel at a nearby Husky gas station.

Hanna RCMP released surveillance photos of two suspects and after further investigation were able to identify two men.

Johnathan Davis Martin, 19, of Olds and David Alfred Matschke, 37, of Didsbury both face the following charges:

  • 3x unlawfully use credit card obtained by the commission of an offence
  • 5x possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • 3x theft under $5,000
  • 2x possession of property exceeding $5,000
  • Mischief  

Martin was arrested on January 24 in Olds on unrelated matters.

Matschke remains at large. He is described as:

  • Caucasian
  • 5'5" tall
  • 134 lbs
  • Brown hair
  • Blue eyes
