34 year old David Matschke was arrested December 13 for a number of crimes including car theft in Didsbury and a break in east of Olds.

At approximately 9:15 pm that evening, Olds RCMP responded to a break in and car theft at a property east of Olds. At the scene, Olds police found a car that had been stolen earlier that day in Didsbury. Police from Didsbury arrived and assisted once the connection between the two crimes became apparent.

After an investigation, the police determined that after crashing the Didsbury car, Matschke walked to the nearby residence east of Olds and broke in, stealing a number of items including car keys. He then stole another vehicle and crashed it in a ditch nearby. From there, he walked to a different residence nearby and stole a side by side and fled. The police were able to follow tracks from the side by side and eventually arrest Matschke near Torrington.

Charges have been laid against Matschke. His first court date is scheduled for December 19 in Didsbury.
