Calgary and Cochrane EMS responded to a collision involving two motorcycles and a deer on Wednesday, July 7.

Cochrane RCMP said that at approximately 10:00 pm, two motorcycles were traveling south on Lochend Rd. when a deer jumped in front of the first motorcycle, causing the driver to hit the deer.

The second driver was able to avoid the collision, however lost control of his motorcycle causing minor injuries.

The first driver, a 67-year-old male from Calgary, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene.

The 33-year-old male from Calgary, who was driving the second motorcycle, was taken by ambulance to the Foothills Medical Centre.

RCMP Constable, Jennifer Brewer said that neither speed nor alcohol was a factor in the collision. The road conditions were dry and clear at the time of the collision.

The names of the each of the drivers will not be released as the investigation is still ongoing.
