Airdrie City Council will have a lot on their plates today (June 4) and the biggest thing will be cannabis.

More precisely, the results of the public consultation done by the city to find out how Airdronians feel cannabis legalization should be handled.

Jill Iverson, Team Leader for Corporate Communications will present the results of the consultations to council and after that, they'll be asked to give direction for the preparation of the relevant municipal bylaws.

Other, less controversial items on the council agenda include an update on the Downtown Plan.  Planner Karl Mielke will provide the update on preliminary work that's been completed for the development of a new Downtown Plan and an outline of the next steps forward, including opportunities for public engagement.

Council will also be given the findings of the review of the Community Culture Assessment and its recommendations.

And, perhaps the headline of this story might have been, "Airdrie Council Meeting Goes to the Dogs Today," since the Cochrane Humane Society will do a presentation and update their services to City Council.

The public portion of today's meeting gets underway at 3:30 pm in Council Chambers at Airdrie City Hall.
