A new company selling door to door is leaving some Airdrie residents feeling unsafe.

The irony is that the company is a home security business known as Fluent.

Residents of some neighbourhoods, including Windsong and Woodside, have said the Fluent sales people have been too pushy, not leaving after being told 'no' 3 or 4 times. Others say they company has come to their door at 8:30-9pm.

Companies including Fluent are still allowed to sell door to door in Airdrie and across Alberta, but you need to make sure they're valid.

"Door to door sales people have to be licensed with Service Alberta," says Stephanie McLean, Minister for Service Alberta, "Folks should be asking for their identification when they come to the door and verify their legitimacy."

Misleading and aggressive sales tactics led to the Government banning door to door sales of energy products in January. Mclean says if any company seems too aggressive, they want to know about it.

"Record as many details of the interaction as possible, we've had instances where folks have done video recordings of their interactions and that's been helpful when there's been complaints and subsequent investigations."

We tried to reach Fluent to respond to the local complaints but so far have had no response.
