The Airdrie Village Community Association wants you to get out, meet your neighbours and read a good book.

With the goal of bringing communities together, the Association is building 'Little Free Libraries' to place throughout the city.

Donelda Johnson with the Airdrie Village Community Association said so far, there is just one Little Library up but they hope to build more for people to put on their properties and hopefully even in public spaces.

"The little free libraries are open to anyone. You can come and take a book, read it, bring it back or not. You can leave a book if you choose to. It's just a way of possibly meeting your neighbours or even people in the general vicinity."

Right now, the first little library is set up on Centre Ave., between Allen St. and Virginia St. and Johnson encourages people to come take a peak.

"Everyone needs to read and everyone should know their neighbours and this is one way of doing it. The books are not being thrown out, they're not being donated to anyone else, they're just going into our library and they're circulating around the city."
