Last week's spell of cold, wet weather wasn't fit for penguins, ducks or road construction workers but it hasn't really delayed road projects going on in the city.

Airdrie's Team Lead for Engineering Frankie Freckleton says everything is pretty much on track for the scheduled completion dates.

"City projects are on schedule even with the little bit of moisture that we had.  The long range forecast looks good and if the sun keeps on shining then we should be fine."

The south Main Street project to do deep servicing for the commercial development in the area was to wrap up at the end of last week.  Freckleton says crews completed the tie ins to the services and are on their way to bringing the road back up to grade.

At the intersection of Veteran's Boulevard and Main Street, Freckleton says the moisture has delayed that project, but only slightly.  "With a little bit of moisture, it's delayed the line painting just slightly so instead of being wrapped up this weekend it will probably be completed early next week.  It's really dependent on when the line painters can come back in."

Airdrie drivers can rejoice that the long awaited project to install a left hand turn lane at the intersection of Yankee Valley Boulevard and Sierra Springs Drive is almost done according to Freckleton.  "That project should hopefully be open early next week.  Just final light check and tie in and a little bit of line painting is all that needs to be done."

The twinning project of Yankee Valley Boulevard is still slated to be completed sometime in October.  Freckleton says the traffic patterns will remain until the final paving is done and the base paving completed.

"When all four lanes are open then you'll start to see landscaping signage, etc.  So that all comes towards the end of the project but for now it will still be crossover traffic until the paving is completed."
