You've heard it before from the RCMP.  "Lock it, or lose it."  The owners of ten vehicles in Cochrane found out the hard way just how true an expression that is.

Cochrane RCMP are investigating numerous complaints of thefts and attempted thefts from vehicles in five different Cochrane communities.

On Thursday (May 4), police responded to ten complaints that had occurred overnight in the communities of Monterra, Heritage, Fireside, Heartland and Glenbow.

According to the RCMP, nine out of the ten vehicles were unlocked.  Constable Katy Moore said, "These thefts are crimes of opportunity, where someone will walk down the street and 'check' each vehicle to see if the doors are unlocked and to see if items of value have been left out in plain sight."

Cochrane RCMP are looking for anyone who may have information about these incidents and ask them to call 403-851-8000 or to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

They also remind people to lock their vehicles when they're parked outside and to not leave your garage door openers in the vehicles.
