A 15 year old Cochrane teen was arrested over the weekend, after uttering threats on the social media app 'Snapchat'.

RCMP said that on Friday, June 3, the male posted a photo of himself posing with gun ammunition, warning other students not to go to school on Monday, June 6.

Cochrane RCMP have charged the teen with one count of uttering threats and released him into parental custody with strict conditions. 

The youth has been prohibited from using firearms or ammunition, as well as restricting his use of a computer, unless it is for school purposes until the end of the school year.

The police beleive the teen acted alone and that there is no other individual that could pose a threat.

The accused will appear in Cochrane Provincial Court on Tuesday, June 14.
