First comes the snow, then the chinook, followed by massive puddles.

The City of Airdrie Roads Department knows very well of the chinook cycle and where they need to go to clear the melted snow.

"Our crews will cycle areas in the central business district, the downtown core where the overland drainage is more prominent than some of the newer communities where they have catch basins on every corner," says road team lead Mike Avramenko.

The Roads department has responded to many calls over the past few days since the warming trend began nearly a week ago, with others still on the list.

Avramenko says that maintaining walkways and areas around your property can help the roads team with clearning any water they need.

However, it seems the biggest helper for Airdrie Roads...the chinook weather itself.

"It was ramped up for sure on Tuesday and Wednesday and now we're at the end of the week...Mother Nature's helped out."
