Members of the City of Airdrie took time on a blustery Thursday Morning (May 25th) to reflect and be thankful for the recent upgrades at the Yankee Valley Interchange.

The project which added lanes to Northbound QEII and the Yankee Valley exit was completed last year and Mayor Peter Brown says it's made a big difference.

"It's been a huge improvement, in my mind. You rarely see cars stacked anymore and people are entering into our community very safely, I'm very happy about that."

Mayor Brown was joined by Bob Neale from the City's Engineering department who is also grateful for the Provincial Government's support of the project.

Of course, with Airdrie's booming population, there's still much infrastructure work to be done, but Airdrie is on the map.

"The Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure actually coming into our community and seeing first hand some of the challenges that exist."

The City knows that hundreds of municipalities are waiting for infrastructure dollars, and is hopeful that Airdrie's needs on Sierra Springs, 566 and 40th Avenue won't be forgotten.
