The City of Airdrie is remebering it's community leaders who contributed to making Airdrie what it is today.

An area of trees will feature plaques that pay tribute to those who gave so much to the community.

The arboretum falls under the City's parks memorial policy, and was approved unanimously by council September 6th.

Founding members must meet a determined criteria to be considered, and all members honoured will be approved by city council.

Some of those founders include longtime volunteer Rob Van Biezen and former councillor Murray Buchanan.
