If you've been through Balzac lately, you may have wondered about the excavation being done.

The Airdrie 900mm Feedermain Water Meter Chamber project is being undertaken by the City of Calgary, who are upgrading a water monitoring station.

According to Gregory Kozhushner, Leader of Infrastructure Delivery Projects Engineering Underground with the City of Calgary, the project is needed to accommodate growth in the area and to meet regional requirements for water metering.

The underground meter installation should be completed by the end of April, with a building on top expected to be completed sometime in June.

Kozhushner said they don't expect there will be any disruptions to Airdrie water. While they will need to close one water main, the project is being done during a low season for water usage, and the City of Calgary has coordinated with the City of Airdrie.
