Anticipation is already building over next Monday's (March 20) City Council Meeting, which will feature a debate on the proposed waste and recycling bylaw.

"It's probably online right now, but it will be in the agenda by Wednesday of this week [March 15]," said Mayor Peter Brown. "I really encourage  people to have a look, it's fairly extensive and there's a lot of information there."

The bylaw has been a hot topic, with a controversial clear bag requirement drawing the ire of some Airdrie residents.

Mayor Peter Brown emphasized that there is still some time before any changes take effect, with next week's debate coming before implementation.

"The blue box schedule starts April the 3rd, check with Waste and Recycling for the schedule for your neighbourhood. And the clear bag is not proposed to be introduced until January of 2018. However, all of this will be debated in public on March 20."
