It is the first Monday of the month (October 1st) which means city councillors are ready for another council meeting.

Many items are on the agenda today including three proclamation requests.

Council will be asked to proclaim October 6th as Cerebral Palsy Day, October 15th as Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day and October 15th to 21st as Waste Reduction Week.

Councillors will be joined by Maddox Nelles at the meeting today. Maddox is the Middle School winner for this year’s Mayor for a Day Challenge. His winning idea is to improve the drainage system in the Ravenswood park area by replacing mulch with rocks which are less likely to flow down and plug the storm drains.

The evening session will include a public hearing on an amendment to the City’s Land Use By-Law in the East Lake Industrial area.

The afternoon session begins at 3:30 pm with Public Question Period and the evening session to follow at 5:30 pm inside City Hall.
