You might get a phone call from the City of Airdrie soon. It's that time of year where the City conducts its annual Citizen Satisfaction phone survey.

"The survey serves as both a report card for the City and a planning tool," said Dorian Kachur, Manager of Strategic Business Services with the City of Airdrie. "We gather feedback on citizen satisfaction with services and also get input regarding citizen's top concerns and priorities."

The phone survey starts today and will run until a representative response is reached, sometime around January 19. Kachur said the survey takes about fifteen minutes to complete, and residents will be asked about their satisfaction with quality and efficiency of City service, ratings of specific departments as well as their top of mind concerns. Kachur emphasized that the survey is one of the City's most important tools, and helps them determine strategic priorities and identify areas for improvement.

Kachur said they will be phoning a slice of Airdrie's population that manages demographics from the last census.

"With the 400 phone calls, we need to end up with 400 representative responses from the phone survey which gives us a statistically valid sample."

For the first time, this year's survey will also be made available in another way for residents to participate.

"We're also opening it up to the web, which people can opt in to respond. That will just give us more input to correlate with that other statistically valid data."

The online and phone survey will be identical. The online responses are above and beyond the representative phone responses, and the two data sets will be compared and contrasted by the City to give them further clarity as they plan for the next year. The online survey will be made available on January 8.
