Ennio Ricci of Citizens On Patrol believes the Town Hall Meeting held Thursday night in Airdrie to talk about the problem of rural crime was crucial for members of the public to get involved in helping to stop the problem.

Ricci thinks solving the problem has to involve everyone.  “Well, people need to learn that the RCMP cannot do everything on their own and we need people to help”

Ricci says that with most of the volunteer force getting older and ready to retire they are looking for new members to fill their ranks.

“Come down to the detachment, I work four days a week, they can come down and pick up an application, meet without some RCMP member and we can go from there.”

Citizens On Patrol spend nights on weekends patrolling the city looking for suspicious activity to report to the RCMP.

“We put in over 130 kms per night>  We go out on weekends and patrol the streets”

Ricci says if you want crime to be reduced you need to become part of the solution.
