The Airdrie Lioness members and volunteers delivered Christmas Hampers to families in need in Airdrie.

During the months leading up to Christmas, the Airdrie Lioness Club was busy collecting donations and raising funds for their Christmas Hamper Program which provides families in need with many Christmas essentials. The hampers are packed with non-perishable food items to help with a Christmas meal, hygiene products and necessities, and gifts for the family members.

Rhonda Auclair, President of the Airdrie Lioness Club says they delivered an incredible amount of hampers this year.

"We delivered 350 hampers. 70 of those were delivered on Saturday by Volunteers that went directly to the homes for those people who do not have the means to go pick them up. Then on Sunday we had all of our Lioness volunteers, Mayor Brown and an aldermen who came and assisted us and delivered the rest of the hampers. It was a very exciting and magical day for those families receiving their hampers."

Among the volunteers were members of the Sirens Lip Sync Challenge. Team Red, the Airdrie Fire Department and AHS EMS, and Team Blue, the Airdrie RCMP and Municipal Enforcement.

Auclair says it was a very emotional weekend, noting the immense gratitude felt from the recipients.

"The recipients are so appreciative. Most of them actually were in tears because they would not have a Christmas without the Airdrie Lioness giving them that little bit of help up. The Airdrie Lioness could not do it without having the help from the residents of Airdrie to help put together those hampers and create those magical moments for all of the adults and children."

On behalf of the Airdrie Lioness Club, Rhonda Auclair thanks everyone who donated their time and money to help make this program possible.
