You may want to be cautious about your drive to work in the mornings this week as there will be melting and freezing cycles throughout the week.

Brian Proctor, Meteorologist with Environment Canada says this week we could see temperatures hit seven degrees.

"We are looking for highs of seven degrees this week, what happening is warm air is coming from the Pacific and building the upper ridge across the great divide which allows the warm air to begin flooding in which will get warmer and warmer throughout the week."

During the days the snow will be melting and at night refreezing causing potentially rough road conditions.

Proctor also says that typically when we get warmer air in the winter we get some strong winds.

"Once we start getting warmer air coming in we to get strong south and west winds that develop and can reach from 20km up to 80km an hour winds throughout the week.

This weather pattern is the beginning of a chinook but we may not see some of the severe winds normally associated with chinooks.

"This is definitely a small chinook, we won't see 100km/hr winds like most chinooks but the wind will be present."
