Lemonade Day began in Houston, Texas in 2007. Since Then it has grown from 2,700 kids, to over 1 million across North America.

54 stands will be set up around the City of Chestermere with young people taking charge to earn their proceeds.

"This is really building community spirit at the same time because the parents are involved the youth are involved," said Petrovich. "We have multiple businesses involved that are not only sponsors, but sites that the youth can set their stands up."

One of the stands features the Battle of Alberta, with one side for the Calgary Flames, and another for the Edmonton Oilers.

The event was coordinated through the City's Economic Development Department, and with the help of eight members of the community who volunteered to help plan.
