St. Martin De Porres will be hosting a meeting this evening (March 22) at 7 o'clock to discuss possible grade changes at Airdrie Catholic Schools.

According to Calgary Catholic School District, their Airdrie schools have been operating at a 100% utilization rate, which is well over capacity.

Normally under Alberta's Government, a utilization rate of 85% is found to be rather high.

The plan that CCSD has come up with is to change the number of grades and students that will be attending Airdrie's Catholic schools.

Our Lady Queen of Peace and Good Shephard have been selected to become kindergarten to grade 7 schools. St. Martin De Porres high school will become a grade 8 to grade 12 school..

These changes are expected to be finalized in August of 2017. However, more details will be discussed at tonight's meeting.

The event is open to parents and students who are attending Airdrie's three Catholic schools that are interested in understanding what these changes may mean for their education, or for their child's education.
