Late Sunday afternoon (July 10), Canada Post withdrew their threat of a lockout that would have taken effect on Monday July 11, at 12:01 am.

50,000 employees will be able to continue business as usual, as the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) and Canada Post look to sit down and focus their efforts on serious negotiations.

Canada Post is prepared to spend the next 30 days in a 'Cooling off period' to reach a negotiated settlement.

If the parties are unable to reach an agreement over the next month, both Canada Post and CUPW must agree to binding arbitration.

During negotiations, Canada Post is hopeful that the Union's repeated statements of not going on strike will be honoured and business can continue while both sides come to an agreement.
