It was a busy May Long Weekend for Alberta Parks Enforcement officers compared to 2017

In total enforcement officers made contacts with 13,041 people in 2018 compared to 9,512 in 2017. 

Officers executed a total of 834 enforcement actions of the 2018 May Long weekend including 347 written warnings, 463 prosecutions, 24 other enforcement actions, 88 enforcement actions under the public land legislation and 70 OHV Helmet offences.

Overall, The Alberta Government was pleased with the people's response to compliance on public land over the May long weekend according to the government. 

Some of the Incidents dealt with by Enforcement officers follow. 

"A fish and wildlife officer on patrol observed a truck stuck in a side channel of the North Saskatchewan River near Rocky Mountain House. The Driver was charged with driving on the bed and shore of a naturally occurring water body and for lacking registration, insurance and a proper license plate." 

"As a result of has being added to a campfire, three people were injured: one was taken to Edmonton by STARS and two were taken to local medical facilities."

"A helicopter patrol spotted two off-highway vehicles on closed trails in the hummingbird area. The helicopter was able to land and deal with the individuals." 

Those are just some examples of the busy weekend officers had.
