Airdrie is set to experience a significant cooldown tomorrow (January 15th).

Since the new year, Airdrie has been experiencing above seasonal temperatures including some day time high of ten degrees. However, now it is all about to change yet again.

Dan Kulak, Meteorologist with Environment Canada says they were surprised with the warm start to the year.

"In January we started seeing warm temperatures, nine of the first thirteen days of month experienced temperatures with average day time high of five degrees compared to the average temperature we should be experiencing minus five."

Now, We are set to experience temperatures with an average high of -8 over the next week.

Kulak also says that we are almost halfway through the winter so we could use some cold temperatures.

"Roughly speaking we are half over, realistically winter goes from early November to mid-March when the snow ends and we are at that halfway point and it was a cool and snowy fall with lots of precipitation in October but since then the cold weather has been more of a rarity than the warm."

In the forecast, we are not expecting any significant precipitation.
