Just when you thought that Winter was done for the year, another blast of cold weather is coming to Airdrie.

The city and many parts of Southern Alberta are under a Snowfall Warning for the next couple days.

Meteorologist Brian Proctor explains what you can expect.

“Right now, we’re sort of looking at snow beginning tomorrow morning (March 15th). It looks like it’s going to begin somewhere towards the end of rush hour. There is a slight chance of freezing rain early with that system. In general, the risk tomorrow is sort of a snowfall in the order of 5 to 10 centimetres through the day Thursday and probably another 5 centimetres Thursday night into Friday.”

According to Environment Canada, some areas could see anywhere from 5 to 15 centimetres to fall by the end of Friday.

“These tend to be heavier, wet snows too,” says Proctor, “The one thing that’s unfortunate is that it’s probably going to have a significant impact on driving conditions through the day tomorrow.”

Proctor says that there is a sliver of good news with the weather change as it will mix things up to push away pollutants that had caused smoke like smells in Airdrie recently.
