With Airdrie having local breweries, Beer Week has a little bit more meaning.

The week of the 15th to the 23rd is Alberta Beer Week.

There are around 130 small or craft breweries in Alberta with 75 of them Alberta owned. Airdrie has 3 local breweries with more on the way. The three local breweries are called Fitzsimmons Brewing, Balzac Brewing, and 948 Brewing.

All three locations offer taprooms for tasting, including special event nights and tours. Our local breweries also use locations in or around Airdrie for names such as East Lake Amber, and Rail Crossing. They support many community initiatives and events.

Airdrie is also seeing a growing number of growler fill stations open up independently or within liquor stores such as Angry Bear Growler or Sierra Springs Liquor Store. Businesses like these become the curators of local beer experts and craft beer.

Many of Airdrie’s local restaurants have made the switch to include local pours available, some even produce and sell their own batches such as Half Hitch Brews or Brewster’s.
