In a newsletter released yesterday (August 17), Banff-Airdrie MP Blake Richards took aim at Bill C-47, An Act to amend the Export and Import Permits Act and the Criminal Code.

Richards' likened the new bill, which was tabled in April, to a former long-gun registry.

"This is basically an implementation Bill for the Arms Trade Treaty which requires records to be kept on Canadian firearms owners who have imported or exported their guns - essentially a back-door gun registry."

Richards' expressed that in his opinion, the new legislation shows the Liberal party is not in touch with law-abiding gun owners.
