A 50-year-old woman and a 3-year-old boy were sent to hospital on Friday, August 19, after an incident occurred with an ATV quad.

At approximately 2:00 p.m. Friday afternoon, EMS were called to the 0-100 block of Northglen Place in Rocky View County after they received a report of an ATV incident.

According to EMS, the pair were ejected off the ATV quad when it went from an initial standstill to sudden acceleration.

The 3-year-old was sent to the Alberta Children's Hospital in stable, non-life threatening condition with soft tissue injuries to his face while the 50-year-old woman was transported to Foothills Hospital in stable, non-life threatening condition with arm and head injuries.

EMS said they are not sure how the incident occurred or what made the ATV quad suddenly accelerate.
