Creative Airdrie made it's official concert line-up announcement the night of June 23 for this year's ARTember Festival.

This year's concert, named Rock the Rails in honour of Airdrie's railway heritage, will be hosting two artists that will cater to generations old and new.

Deanna Hunter, Chair of Creative Airdrie, said they're very excited to be hosting this year's entertainment.

"So for Friday night, we are bringing in an emerging [country] artist; his name is Brad Sims and he's an Alberta boy. Then Saturday night, we are really excited to be bringing in the Gin Blossoms and they were a pretty significant band for the 90's."

While in past years, ARTember took place over the course of a couple of weeks, Creative Airdrie made the executive decision to make ARTember a 3-day festival.

"Essentially what we've done, is the format is a little bit different. In the past, we did all of the festival stuff over little pockets over the course of 3 weeks, but this year we decided to jam it in over 4 days and that way people can hang out all weekend and see something different every day," said Hunter.

This year's event will also have activities for people of all ages to ensure all demographics are being met.

This includes a Friday night dance for junior and senior high school students, face painting and games for the little ones, as well as activities for adults aged 18 years and older.

Hunter added that Creative Airdrie is still looking for volunteers for ARTember and if you are interested in volunteers, please visit Creative Airdrie

ARTember has it's invite-only sneak peak night on Thursday, September 29, before festivities kick-off on Friday, September 30, and take place until Sunday, October 2.
