The City of Airdrie is now accepting applications for the Airdrie Mainstreet Square Real Estate Inc. (AMSQ) Board of Directors.

"We're just in the process of doing recruitment through the newspaper and social media, and are closing the application process March 6," said Kari Kitiuk, Assistant City Clerk.

Kitiuk said that this application period longer than normal.

"Typically the ads for Council volunteers, for their boards, committees and commissions, run just once in the paper, and then if it's required it will run longer. This time around we're running it for two weeks."

Recruitment notices started running in a local newspaper on February 23. The notice will run once more this week before the application deadline of March 6. If enough qualified candidates are not found, the application period will remain open as long as necessary.

The board will be comprised of seven members. Citizen volunteers will occupy four of those seats, while members of City Council will hold the other three. Kitiuk said ideally, the board would be ready to get to work by spring.
