Alberta Culture Days are now in their 11th year of family-friendly events that celebrate the cultural diversity of the province.

This year, the Airdrie Public Library (APL) has been chosen as one of nearly 80 organizations in Alberta to be a Celebration Site and host weekend events that run over September 28th - 30th.

The Library will receive funding to host the events through the Alberta Culture Days grant.  The government provides a total of $200,000 to support the celebrations.

APL Board Chair Daniel Nelles says the board has left it up to library staff to plan events for the celebration.

Other area organizations also were named Celebration Sites and will receive provincial funding.  They include the Carstairs and District Historical Society, the Town of Irricana Library Board and the Cochrane Pipe Band Society.

Last year, nearly 100,000 Albertans enjoyed Culture Days festivities.
