Airdrie RCMP along with Didsbury RCMP and the Calgary RCMP Police Dog Service has made an arrest following a stolen commercial vehicle.

 On Thursday (June 28th) around 9 am, Calgary police services HAWCS helicopter asked Airdrie RCMP to help with the recovery of the stolen vehicle. 

CPS reported that a commercial landscaping truck stolen out of Calgary was parked along 8th street. 

Airdrie RCMP marked and unmarked police vehicles entered the area of the stolen vehicle.

The stolen vehicle started to flee and headed northbound out of Airdrie along range roads 13 and 14. 

Attempts by RCMP to stop the stolen truck were unsuccessful at the time, Calgary HAWCS helicopter assisted to monitor the direction of travel of the stolen truck for officers on the ground. 

The stolen truck was eventually stopped in the Town of Carstairs. 

Calgary police dog services along with Didsbury RCMP were contacted to provided assistance in apprehending the suspect. 

The lone male suspect attempted to flee from the truck on foot. 

RCMP Police Dog Services were successful in taking down the suspect in a back alley. 

A 43-year old man from Olds is currently in custody and facing numerous charges, including possession of stolen property over 5000 and flight from police.
