Students from George McDougall High School have collapsed into a joyous, excited and happy heap after pulling off a remarkable Ride of the Mustangs once again this year.

40 teams took part in the event, which includes 48 hours of riding stationary bikes, having their heads shaved and other fundraisers with all money going to the oncology department at the Alberta Children's Hospital.

This is the 9th annual ride.  It started in 2011 and came to be after a student at George Mac was diagnosed with cancer.

This year, the Airdrie community donated over $76,000.  That brings the cumulative total in nine years to nearly $950,000.

The students were hoping that this year might be the one that put them over the million dollar mark.  That will likely have to wait another year, but once again, the student of George McDougall High School have shown what can be accomplished when young people work together.
