Thousands of Easter Eggs won’t be spread around Ed Eggerer Park this year after it was announced the annual event will not go as planned this year.

The Easter Egg Hunt has been put on by Living Springs Christian Fellowship for over a decade now, but the church decided to spread out their resources throughout the year.

“Rather than one big huge thing [we’re] looking at doing some other things,” said Church Administrator Peggy Buzzard. “We’ve talked to people in the church and said ‘start dreaming,’ what do you with your gifts see doing in the community. We’re all putting our heads together and coming up with some new ideas.”

One of those ideas came to light last month when the church hosted a Valentine's Day event.

Buzzard said the Easter Egg Hunt might be an idea for the church down the road.

“We have not completely closed the door on it. There aren’t any specific plans for next year but it’s something that we try to look at what we’re doing and reevaluate on a regular basis.”

Last year’s Easter Egg Hunt drew between 4000 to 5000 participants.
