The United Conservative Party (UCP) has been identified as the official opposition in Alberta. Angela Pitt announced yesterday that she will be supporting Brian Jean throughout this election.

On July 22, conservatives from all different backgrounds put their differences aside and joined together to support the future of Alberta. This was a great success for the democratic process as well as for Albertans.

In order to bring the PC and the Wildrose Parties together, there were more than 50,000 Albertans who chose to buy memberships and vote in order. This resulted in 95 per cent of members saying "yes" to unity.

Angela Pitt says she couldn't be more excited to endorse Brian Jean's campaign.

"He guided Conservatives together in our beautiful province and is the best choice to keep Conservatives unified and save Alberta from the NDP, he has put together a bold policy vision to get our province back on track."

Pitt says that Jean is the reason she really wanted to get involved with politics.

"He took me aside and asked me to run for Wildrose, I told him all the typical reasons I couldn't run and he told me I needed to run for my kids and their future in a new Alberta."

According to Pitt, Alberta can't handle another four years with the NDP.

Doug Schweitzer has also been endorsed by Wayne Drysdale, a former progressive Conservative.

Jason Kenney is being endorsed by Ric McIver, Calgary-Hays MLA as well as Jason Nixon who is Rimbey-Rocky Mountain House- Sundre MLA.

UCP members will be able to elect a new leader online or over the phone starting 9 am on October 26 until 5 pm on October 28, 2017.
