A group of local dads have raised $40,000 for local charities.

The Airdrie Dads held their annual golf tournament to raise money for charities and programs in Airdrie.

There were four recipients of the money and each foundation received 10,000 dollars.

Jessica Nash from the Boys and Girls Club says it's an amazing feat.

"The Airdrie Dads are such a huge part of our community, they have done something amazing that I have never seen in any other community. They have managed to band together as a group of dads and share one thing in common, for them to choose us is huge, it means so much to us."

Nash says that the money will be going back directly into their child and youth programming.

"Right now we are in full swing of summer camps. We are on the fifth out of the eight weeks, so we are in the home stretch and then the rest goes back directly into programming so that we can offer affordable programming that is barrier-free for the people of Airdrie."

Nash also says that in the grand scheme of things this money will be spending a lot of kids in summer camps.

One of the other recipients was the Airdrie Foodbank and Executive Director Lori McRitchie from the food bank says this money will go a long way.

"We will use this money to purchase perishable items to go into our hampers and support the programs that we have going on all year long, such as our milk for moms program, pregnancy and beyond as well as our kitchen and hamper programs."

The other two charities that received funding included the Nathan O'Brien Foundation and STARS Air Ambulance.
