An Amber Alert has been issued by Calgary Police for the abduction of a 5-year-old girl.

On Monday, Taliyah Leigh Marsman was taken from the 1000 block of Panamount Boulevard NW in Calgary.

At approximately 8:30 pm, police were called to Marsman's home; upon arrival the police found Marsman's mother deceased.

The death of Marsman's mother is suspicious. Police are speaking with witnesses and person's of interest in relation to the incident.

Marsman is described as being mixed race with a slim build, brown curly hair, and brown eyes. It is unknown what she was wearing at the time of her disappearance.

Police said Marsman was abducted by an unknown person.

City police were able to locate a vehicle of previous interest but the child remains missing.
