Amazon has unveiled the shortlist for its second North American Headquarters, but unfortunately Alberta cities are not on it.

Of the 20 cities named to the shortlist today (January 18), Toronto was the only Canadian city that made the cut, with Calgary and Edmonton falling short.

The other 19 cities are all in the United States. Atlanta, New York City, Los Angeles, Dallas and Montgomery County are all among the remaining contenders.

Amazon will still set up nearby despite Calgary losing out on HQ2. Rocky View County is still building an Amazon fulfillment centre in Balzac, which is expected to open later this year.

As for the second North American Headquarters, Amazon has not said when they will make a final decision to which city will host it.
