An amazing outpouring of love from Airdrie for a mother, wife and friend, and the family she left behind is continuing to touch hearts in the city.

This week, Airdrie Family Eye Doctors held a Silent Auction and Bake Sale fundraiser to support the family of Kelly Owchar who died on May 22nd at the age of 30 after a brief battle with cancer.  Kelly's death came just two months after giving birth to twin girls, Lauren and Leah.  Kelly's husband Dwayne and their two year old son Eric are also grieving Kelly's loss.

Optometic Assistant with Airdrie Family Eye Doctors Emily Hewitt says everyone in the community was touched by Kelly's loss.  "The story just touched our hearts and we wanted to help in any way we could."

They approached other Airdrie businesses for silent auction items and received overwhelming support.  "We had so many wonderful companies come through," says Hewitt.  "So many that I can't even list them."

100 per cent of the proceeds from the sales will go to the Owchar family.  "All the time and wonderful gifts that everyvbody has donated, every penny is going to go to them and we can't wait to write a cheque to them at the end of Sunday."

The original fundraising goal was set at $5,000.  Hewitt says she firmly believes they're going to beat that.  "I think, with the way that the bidding's been for the last couple of days, we've had a couple of sharks online, I think we can blow it out of the water."

The Silent Auction closes at noon tomorrow.  You can bid in store during opening hours or on Airdrie Family Eye Doctor's Facebook page here from 6:30 pm to 8:00 am.  The bake sale is on 'til 5:00 this afternoon and tomorrow from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm.

A GoFundMe page set up for the Owchar family to date has raised over $124,000.  You can access that page here.
