While candidates in Airdrie are preparing for the upcoming election, another set of candidates are also trying to garner votes.

All nine divisions of Rocky View County will see elections on October 16.

Mark Kamachi and Enrique Massot will contend for the Division 1 seat in Bragg Creek. In Springbank, incumbent Jerr Arshinoff will run against Kim KcKylor to represent Division 2. Voters in Elbow Valley will chose between Gordon Branson and Kevin Hanson  to represent Division 3.

The Division 4 race is between Douglas Fairley and Albert Michael Schule who will represent Langdon and Indus. In Division 5, voters will pick between Jerry Gautreau and Steven Gehring.

Incumbent Greg Boehlke will try to win re-election against John McMurray for Division 6, representing Kathryn and Keoma. In Balzac, the race is between Syd Hartley and Daniel Henn.

Incumbent Eric Lowther is running against challenger Samantha Wright for Bearspaw's Division 8 seat. Voters in Division 9 will have the most candidates to choose from, as incumbent Bruce Kendall faces Crystal Kissel and current school trustee Colleen Munro.

Under Rocky View's system, the reeve and deputy reeve are chosen every year by councilors from among their numbers.
