Despite a challenging year economically, the unemployment rate in Alberta has surprisingly decreased.

According to Stats Canada, in February 2016, the unemployment rate in Alberta was 7.9%.

As of January 2017, the unemployment rate was up to 8.8%. However, it is now down to 8.3%.

It certainly hasn't been easy for anyone, especially for those trying to find part time work, as there were 18,000 part time jobs lost this past year.

Throughout February, employment remained steady for those working full time hours, as there was 19,000 additional people employed.

Abigail Gonzalez-Kube, with Rocky View Employment, says that Airdronians have been finding employment in retail, public transportation, administration, warehouses, labour, and in food services.
