This weekend, all across Alberta is Open Farm Days.

A few local farms around Airdrie are participating and have their doors open for people to come and visit.

Open Farm Days is important in Alberta for a few reasons.

Wayne Hanson from Your Local Ranch believes it is crucial for people to experience what produces the products that they eat.

"The rural people get in touch with the urban people, and allows them to come out to a farm, and experience what produces their food."

Dawn Buschert from Shirley's Greenhouse also believes there is a very important reason to participate in Open Farm Days.

"A lot of the time children and people are disconnected from farms, and so it's a way for people to come and be connected with the farm."

Linda Pagenkopf at Uncle Berne's Farm believes it is important for people to know the struggles of having quality food on the table.

"It puts people back in touch with agriculture, so they can appreciate the difficulty of having quality food."
