It was news that shocked the entire world this morning (October 2nd) after the deadliest mass shooting in US History took place in Las Vegas.

Here in Alberta, political leaders took time to express their condolences to victims of the tragic event.

Mayor Peter Brown tweeted today saying his "Thoughts & Prayers are with the victims of these senseless shootings in Las Vegas. Truly incomprehensible acts of violence."

Nathan Cooper from Carstairs, who serves as the Interim Leader for the United Conservative Party, said in a statement today “Words can’t express the horror that victims and their loved ones are going through during this time.”

Cooper and Premier Rachel Notley also took time to commend first responders and brave citizens who helped during the incident.

In her statement this morning, Notley said that "Albertans are shocked, outraged and unspeakably saddened by the horrifying attack on innocent people gathered to enjoy the season and fellowship at the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival in Las Vegas, Nevada."

At least 58 people were killed and over 400 injured when a man opened fire at concert goers outside the Mandalay Bay Hotel.
