Airdrie's Garrett Jones was recognized as a finalist in Allstate Insurance's Community Hero program.

The Community Hero Proram recognizes the charitable work of it's agents, and a finalist is selected from each province.

"We're proud to have so many community heroes at Allstate who exemplify our corporate values and give back to the communities where they live and work," said Marcelo Regen, Vice President, Allstate Insurance Canada. "These individuals are leading the change they'd like to see in their communities through volunteerism and service, and it is with this award we acknowledge and celevrate their substantial contributions."

From the list of finalists, a committee selects a national winner, and although Jones did not recieve that award, he will still recieve $500 for the organization of his choice.

Through his work with the Airdrie Lions Club, the Boys and Girls Club, and the Foodbank, Jones leads by example at his Allstate location.

"It really means a great deal to me because it is such a community based insurance company, and there are so many other agents throughout the country who are doing great things, so to be the finalist on the national list and to be the regional winner, it's pretty exciting and pretty flattering." said Jones.

Although Jones is still reviewing where he will allocate the money he recieved, he hopes to do more work with the Airdrie Food Bank's Community Kitchen, and is in line to become the second Vice President for the Lions Club.

With the help of Allstate and the AIRSCARES Committee, Jones has helped raise money for the Boys and Girls Club through events like the Allstate Airdrie ALLPLAY tournament, and the AirScared Haunted House.

Jones says that his passion for volunteering comes from his mother, who was also and avid volunteer.
